Uncle Jonathan Solomon Glenn 1833-1916--An Optimist in 1909

Jonathan (known as Jonce, pronounced Johnsey) may not have been the oldest inhabitant of Dade County but he may have been in the county longer than anyone else. His mother was Hannah Sparks, from the big Sparks and Cockerham families of Virginia and North Carolina. Solomon was a much-used name in the Sparks family. Jonce was a brother of John B. E. Glenn, the six foot five inch Mexican war volunteer, my GGG Grandfather, who as a second wife married a Glenn cousin, thereby giving me a double dose of Glenn. DNA shows that ours are Renfrewshire Glenns, just like the astronaut, our Cousin John Glenn.
