We've watched the old Ken Burns Meriwether and Clark DVDs with great interest, and with sadness at the brief account of the last years of Meriwether Lewis. Now I am looking at the Baptist Murrell family because Thomas Murrell led some Sims fellow Baptists from civilized Virginia into the wilds of what was not even Hawkins County Tennessee yet. Poor Jeffrey Murrell, an itinerant preacher, had a woman, but she went bad. Here she is in Jonathan Daniel's Devil's Backbone mentioned along with the Grinders's establishment, where Lewis died.

Meriwether Lewis mentioned along with Mom Murrell, the preacher's wife who went wrong
