Cousin Thomas Ewart Bell 1822-1879 and his Double First Cousin the author Thomas Washington Bell

Thomas Bell
A '48er or '49er. Grandson of Thomas Bell, a King's Mountain man, Great Grandson of Robert Ewart, also a King's Mountain man.

Thomas Ewart Bell is not to be confused with his double first cousin Thomas Washington Bell.
Thomas Washington Bell --My 1st cousin 4x removed
Birth 20 August 1815 in Rutherford County North Carolina
Death 1873 in Dyer, Tennessee, USA

Author in the family: A NARRATIVE OF THE CAPTURE AND SUBSEQUENT SUFFERINGS OF THE MIER PRISONERS IN MEXICO, CAPTURED IN THE CAUSE OF TEXAS, DEC. 26TH, 1842 AND LIBERATED SEPT. 16TH, 1844.

Thos W. Bell was a grandson of 2 Revolutionary heroes, Thomas Bell and Robert Knox, and a great grandson of the Committee of Safety hero Robert Ewart, who as part of a band of his son and sons-in-law distinguished themselves at King’s Mountain, the turning point of the war in the South. Thos. W. Bell was also (once again) a great grandson of the Committee of Safety hero Robert Ewart. When I mentioned to my cousin Farris Hightower, a descendant of the Mier prisoner and author, that I thought of first cousins marrying as keeping the blood lines pure he said he referred to that as branches that don’t fork. They talk good in Texas, still.
