THE WEEK on Martinis and Massage for GHW Bush at 91

Jeb Bush's presidential campaign might seem like it would be a family affair, but according to Jeb, his father hasn't been all that present. Rather than offering Jeb some words of wisdom on how to navigate difficult political situations and revamp his struggling campaign, Jeb tells The Boston Globe that his dad, former President George H.W. Bush, 91, has been busy with other activities:
"He's lucid and he watches this stuff and he knows what's going on. But his life has been simplified to unconditional love, having a martini at 6 o'clock at night, getting massages, watching whatever he watches — Fox and CNN probably. There's not a lot of advice given." [Jeb Bush, The Boston Globe]
Well, I don't do alcohol since, well, since taking Jay Leyda on his last research trip back in the 1980s, but massages ever day and watching whatever you want to watch and mouthing off to your biographer about the failings of your sons--that sounds like a good retirement to me.
