I was thinking of driving along a road in Lauderdale County, Alabama, in 2007 seeing on mailboxes RICHARDSON, RICHARDSON, RICHARDSON, RICHARDSON, RICHARDSON, RICHARDSON, RICHARDSON, RICHARDSON and decided that the historians were right who said the Richardsons populated the county.
So I just typed Richardson with no first name and Lauderdale County, Alabama into the 1940 census and got a screen showing 1-10 of 127,000.
Does 127,000 mean that someone counted all the Richardsons in all the households, not just the head of household?
What does the 127,000 signify, anyone?
Now, Hiram's account of the migration of the Richardsons and others in a 150 ox-drawn wagon train around 1820 is well known. If anyone has a supplementary account, tell me about that, too, please. 1820? 1821? Who knows for sure?
