This review is from: Living and Dying in Hungary: Jewish Psychiatrist looks back (Hardcover)
I read this book several years ago when the working title was A
STATISTICAL ABERRATION, an impossible title for an all but unbelievable
autobiographical narrative. This has already been published in Europe,
and its availability in English should make it one of the standard texts
in Holocaust literature classes. I don't want to say too much, just
that this is one of the most powerful personal narratives I have ever
read. Ervin Varga is still alive, but as he shows in the latter parts of
this book there is no reason he should have survived. He was "a
statistical aberration." There was no reason he should have
survived--but look what he has made of his life. Enough!
