You get too busy to enjoy the view of the Pacific, but to the painters beside us it is endlessly enthralling. They know how to enjoy tobacco as they lean toward the view, and far from being surly to each other they smoke companionably and joke decorously and point out to each other the little ships in the water. No whales today! How nice to work for an absentee owner! How wonderful to know how to live and luxuriate in all the beautiful weather, hour after hour.
