There's a ragged 14 July 1899 issue of Mountain Echo with the first part of an article on Uncle Joe, Joseph Coker, by someone who was old enough to have known him pretty well. Just when it gets good it says "CONTINUED NEXT WEEK." The article, you can see at the tear, might be by someone named "lippin"--and in fact later articles in the Mountain Echo makes it clear that the author is a grandson of Thomas Flippin. So that's the author, not Turnbo, as we might have thought. Is there a copy somewhere? Was the article reprinted in other Arkansas papers? We have to keep looking. And if while looking you find a serialized version of THE ISLE OF THE CROSS, you know I want to be the 2nd reader of it all.
In here? Marion County, The Way She Was in 1836 by W.B. Flippin. $7 plus $5 shipping and handling.
