Part 2 of why I had to retire early from Delaware and flee to San Luis County
The departmental chairman refused to ask his elderly secretary to stop smoking directly below my cubicle, even though OSHA showed that the fumes went directly up. He could not ask an elderly woman to smoke outside. The dean was a smoker. I was threatened with violence by a graduate smoker noted for his bravado in cracking a whisky bottle on his forehead. The librarian let her staff line up out under an overhang and block anyone who wanted to enter the library without getting soaked with fumes. Going to work was (no exaggeration) killing me. Is it still that way?
