My granddaughter is lacking a cell phone tonight. She was in the library when she heard a woman begging for her life and heard shots. So she fled, leaving her cell phone, but she got word to her mother in Santa Cruz.
We were in Okida when the 1989 earthquake hit. CNN was everywhere. We could not call Santa Cruz so we called our house in Delaware. My daughter had had the presence of mind to call Delaware and leave word that she was all right.
Not everyone was all right then and not everyone is all right tonight.
