 At the Richmond, CA Community Theater in early 1957 the evidence shows that I played the lead in THE MALE ANIMAL. I think what happened was that I bought a season's ticket and they let me sit down in the back row to watch a rehearsal of a play and then they said, "You. You will do." About THE MALE ANIMAL I remember only that between acts the pneumo-peritoneum was sloshing so much that I lay down on the stage set sofa. Not one memory of the words of the play or a performance. I was taking classes at West Contra Costa Junior College--going to college. That I remember.

Only the perpetual calendar gives me 1957.

TROUBLED BLOOD and looking back at June 2013, CUCKOO'S CALLING and spread the 7 inches or 8 inches of print outs over the S BR bed

 The need now is not to SIT for long, even with the compression stocking on. So I can't sit down and read the fine TROUBLED BLOOD which the caregiver actually bought for me. Cheap at any price--long as a volume of my biography of Melville. So it is mealtime reading for a long time, a joy taken only in bites. In 2013 we noticed CUCKOO's CALLING at the Cayucos library. The great now-retired electrician had just installed LED lights. My study was bright, and has kept shining all this time. On 21 June my friend Paul sent his Billy the Kid book off to Northwestern University Press, which loved it and was perfect in all ways to Paul. On that glorious Friday I see this note: "Reading (pseud) Robert Galbraith The Cuckoo's Calling---Cormoran Strike." I raved to the other person here about it, and then checked the Internet. All that was there was what was on the book--way too little about the author. The now-caregiver remembers me saying, "This is not this man's first book." So I wrote down "pseud." On 14 July 2013 the worst spoil-sport in the world exposed J. K. Rowling as the author. "We liked 'him'!" I noted.  So today I go up, prop pillows against the wall, and arrange in chronological order as many of the printouts of the RACE book as I can. What it is, is documents involving my re-discovered family, whites starting out in the 1600s living around blacks and Indians and owning some and killing many and being killed (by many red men and some blacks) and revealing an amazing range of feelings about the people they owned (as demonstrated in their wills), and becoming part red as the decades passed and leaving part white people like a black Hackley cousin who died recently, way too soon. Along the way I show that the enterprising Carolinians used the first year of the Revolution to attack the Cherokees, and Jefferson and Madison burned our white intruders out of Alabama two times, that one of the first white families in northern Arkansas mixed so freely with red neighbors over in the Cherokee Nation that a cousin is now a big tribal officer, that many of the dead in the 1860s had never owned a slave and were fighting only a defensive war (although one Costner was a slaveowner, one of the rich men who got NC into the war), that several cousins in North Carolina headed public Peace meetings during the war and others set out to join the Union Army (some massacred at Limestone Cove), that one mid-Atlantic cousin escaped from a Confederate prison at the NC-VA border and made his way north with the help of a network of red stringers, that other cousins died in Yankee prisons including the horrific camp described in TO DIE IN CHICAGO, that a drunken Choctaw chief allied with the Confederates drove many part red cousins out of the Choctaw Nation as "intruders," that a great-grandfather whom I remember was a baby when Confederates hanged his father for being a Union man, that a judge turned upside down, against us, the law that legally race follows mother.  The idea is that every document involves some ancestor or some aunt or uncle or cousin. This is basically what any Depression Okie's history of race in the continent would have been, if he or she had not lost all knowledge of family history. There are unbelievably painful things to see in this, where the documents show very plainly that black lives did not matter, and also red lives did not matter, or sometimes white lives.  I use fewer documents after 1900, but there are scary things there like in the late 30s a ballplayer cousin abusing a little black boy who became a great sports writer (and remembered) and good things, like a timid suit, a producer, saying to Cousin Kevin (about Whitney Houston) "You do know she's black?"

 Ordered it from Netflix and got a hyper-violent 2015 biker movie with good actors prostituting themselves. Sealed it up and sent it back.

Helen Mirren version not available.

Prime does have 1982 but only if you pay to join another site.

Ordered a copy on eBay with a note to the seller asking to be sure it is not the biker movie. We will see. There is SUCH a great satisfaction with one revelation and recognition after another. Sometimes the simple pleasures should be indulged.

A Fellow Sufferer: "My photos have been hijacked by 3D paint - Microsoft . . . " Why, oh Why?

 

 

Windows 'Paint 3D' hijacks JPEGs from Adobe legend Photoshop CC 2019 and has no app uninstall, why??

Just the one problem with Windows app Paint 3D (formerly MSPaint apparently).

Let me make this clear, I have already set all file associations for Adobe products because I need them for established clients,...  and still Paint 3D launches instead of Photoshop.

I can right click a file to open a jpeg or a JPEG with Photoshop, telling it to always use Photoshop. And the first time is fine. Then any subsequent open requests it forgets, ignores Photoshop and launches in Paint 3D all over again.

This is unacceptable and puts me off ever trying Paint 3D for anything.

Hi ,

Setting File Associations in Windows 10 is now impossible, a lot of users are reporting this at the moment, this seems to be a bug in Windows 10 since the last update.

Microsoft are working hard to patch the bugs in the last couple of updates, hopefully this is one of the bugs they are working on

Please provide feedback to the Windows Developers on this bug, press Windows Key + F to open the Feedback Hub, the more users that report this, the quicker it will be resolved . . .

1. To uninstall Paint 3D app so that it doesn't conflict with Adobe Photoshop
Windows+X > Click Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the below command and right click in Powershell to paste it

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.MSPaint | Remove-AppxPackage

( If you ever need it, Microsoft Store > Type Paint in
Find box in Microsoft Store > Click Paint 3D > And Install )

2. File Association issues -
My apologies. This is one of the bugs which has been caused by new Windows update.

Microsoft is well aware of this issue and has been working to fix this issue. I think next build may have this fix in place.

Meanwhile, I would recommend that you submit this issue as a feedback to Windows team through Feedback Hub

You can uninstall Paint 3D by going Settings, Apps, scroll down to Paint 3D, click on it, click on uninstall.

If you want to use it later it is there in Microsoft store, click on the 3 dots, click on Downloads and updates, click on All owned (on the left top of the screen), scroll down to Paint 3D and on the right Install.

Didn't Paint 3D go away? I first executed on my machine and then posted it. Can you run it again and restart your computer?

(Microsoft hasn't activated uninstall for any Store app. Currently there is no hack for this)

There is another method to uninstall any Store app. Uninstall it using Windows 10 Store App Unistaller - Apps-Cleaner.zip

When you look at the uninstall it has a grey background.  Were the letters black or grey?
I have been able to uninstall on my computers.

Grey letters under Paint 3D, making it impossible to uninstall this app in Windows10 version 1803 (OS Build 17134.345).

I tried the popular PowerShell(Admin) approach again to remove the app - to avoid the file association bug...

Restarted immediately and the app dissappears from the Apps & features list.

But double click on any jpeg,...and instead of launching the Photoshop I want, it returns and relaunches Paint 3D.  :(

Looking forward to a fix before considering a Mac.
